Does anyone else here have stage 4 basal cell carcinoma?
Hi Giraffelover and a very warm welcome to the online community
I had a look at your profile to see if it's you or someone else that has Stage 4 basal cell carcinoma (BCC) but you haven't completed it yet.
From what I understand it's very unusual for a BCC to spread to organs in the body and I wondered if you could tell us your story, for want of a better word.
I have had a look through the previous posts in this group but not found anyone else that has mentioned having stage 4 BCC I'm afraid.

My husband has stage 4 BCC with secondaries in the lungs. He was diagnosed May 2020.
Having searched through various areas I can't find anyone else with the same. It is very rare but I was hoping to find someone here who may have experience of it. Never mind, on we go.
Thanks for replying. X
I'm sorry to hear that Giraffelover
I'm mainly to be found in the melanoma group where there are quite a few people with Stage 4 melanoma. A lot of them are being treated with immunotherapy or targeted therapy. Is this something that happens for Stage 4 BCC patients?
The only treatment for BCC is radiotherapy apparently and as the secondaries are in multiple places on both lungs they are unable to treat with radiotherapy as its unsuitable. He is receiving palliative care only.
I was just wanting to chat with someone about the speed of progress as we were told average life expectancy of 8 months at one stage, but 3 months later were told (by the same person) that it could tick along like this for some months, possibly years. I realise noone can give a precise prognosis but was hoping there was someone with some experience of it, but to be honest I'm not surprised there isn't.
Hi Giraffelover
How are you and your husband doing?
As there doesn't appear to be anyone else in the group with BCC secondaries in their lungs I wondered if it might be an idea to join and post in the secondary lung cancer group. You might not find people with secondaries from BCC but you would be able to talk about speed of progression when cancer has spread to the lungs. If this is something you'd like to do then clicking on the link I've created will take you there.

Ah that's a good idea. I'll take a look, thank you for the suggestion. Xx
Hi :) Sorry to hear about your dad. I haven't been successful in finding out anything new. May I ask how old your dad is and where his secondaries are please?
He's 58 and they're in his lungs. Came as such as shock to us all. He's waiting until Monday for his treatment plan so unfortunately we won't know more until then
Exactly the same age as my husband. Please keep me posted about his treatment plan if you don't mind. X
