Hello. I had a bcc on my cheek and on the right side of nose (mohs). No recurrence on cheek but around nose, recently had second recurrence removed.
This time I was with another doctor he removed the recurrence by freezing. Now after cryotherapy, after a week I started prevention with regencorr. I apply the cream directly on the wound. The reaction is quite intense, there is redness around the wound, the wound swells a little, itches and it lasts about two hours sometimes more then the inflammation gradually and completely subsides. The wound with Regencorr heals slower than usual. Please who has experience, is such a reaction normal and that the cream is getting into the wound, not dangerous?
The instructions say that if there have been relapses, the prophylactic regimen is recommended to be extended up to three months. Am I understanding this correctly? Does that mean I should apply the cream to the wound and the scar forming near the nose for longer than the one on the cheek?
On cheek I have a scar that healed a long time ago two years old, no reaction to the cream
Thanks
Hi Jecollt and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I didn't have to apply Regencorr after having a BCC removed so don't have any personal experience to share with you.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Thanks Latchbrook. I'll try to figure out my profile settings. I'll wait for a response, probably not many people visiting the forum due to the holiday weekend.
Wishing everyone a happy new year!
Happy New Year to you too.
Hi Jecoll. I had a different treatment. I used regencorr right after efudex. The other thing I was concerned about was that sometimes there was no response to the regencorr. It's bad if there isn't. If there is, it means the cream is working
When I applied Regencorr on ulcers, there was swelling irritation, itching, but the wounds quickly became insensitive, as if anesthetized. I did prophylaxis on the eyelids sometimes Regencorr got into the eyes there was a little itching, not for long and at all there were no problems and no traces of ulcers and scars. There was an old scar and it almost disappeared but Iused the cream forabout three months.
It is undesirable to rush and it is better not to shorten the time of prevention and to do a full prophylaxis after the treatment and there will be no need for a second time, well maybe in 10 years
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have a small two year old mohs scar on my cheek. I haven't had a recurrence in two years, and I'm starting to believe it won't happen, but I have concerns and sad experiences. In the nose area I used the cream for a long time until the wound healed. There is no trace left, no scar just a slightly pale spot.
I read Regencorr is recommended to be applied under a film during treatment and I would like to try this when I do a second prophylaxis.
What do you think? You haven't tried it? You haven't done re-prophylaxis? No recurrences?
No I haven't had any more recurrences. I am stable but I still have a thorough skin check once a month. The concerns haven't gone away. I think on the nose it made sense to use a cream under the film right after cryotherapy but now I don't know.
Why do you need a second prevention in the near future, if you have already done one with regencorr and you have not had a recurrence on the eyelid for 2 years. This is already stable, so there are no cancer cells left in the place where the scar was.
on the nose do prevention as in the instructions for up to three months and then you just have to keep an eye on it and hope for the best
good luck
I've noticed that the more often we face a relapse, the more paranoid we become. But the fears are fading I'm optimistic. About the eyelid I have confidence, I will soon finish prophylaxis on the nose and will keep an eye on it.
Blondes may need prophylaxis in 5 years but brunettes may not need it at all. I am not a fan of sunbathing, I have white skin, blonde hair and always get sunburn easily but we cannot hide from it. Covering yourself in rags and creams, doesn't always work out
