Hi Mohaarlast I have had 2 basal cell surgeries on my face 2 years ago. I am 75 and retired, but I did say to my hubby I wonder how much time I would have taken off work had I still been in my Secretarial job. If I were you I would play it by ear but you are not ready to go back any time soon. Infection will be a big thing working in your environment and you will feel very self concious for a time, until you have got used to seeing it. My site where I had a graft wept for a while but the donar site was no problem at all. When the dressings were removed I was horrified as it looked awful and it did take longer than my Consultant thought it would to heal. Luckily we were wearing masks at this time, so I could hide, but I would not have been able to go back to work for quite a while, and I suggest you do the same, and let your body heal. I too wear glasses and I couldnt wear mine for a few weeks, at first because of the dressing and after because it was cery tender. Mine was in a similar place to yours but right at the top of my nose and into my tear duct. My eye took a while to settle down, watered all the time, but is fine now. Where was your donor site. Mine was at the side of my face near my ear. Feel free to ask me any other questions and am happy to help. xx
Thank you for that our situation does sound very similar. Work has given me 4 weeks off but I am rostered back for Boxing Day then nights New year's eve and New years day. I am quite stressed about returning that soon and do not want to let my colleagues down and am never off sick. It would be better for my manager to know in advance how long I will need. I realise I cannot risk the healing process. xx
Mohsatlast. If I were you I would try and get some more time off now, rather than leave it late to get your shifts filled. Looking back I wouldnt have been able to go back after 4 weeks, it was still not a pretty sight. xx
