So, after quite a few surgeries and procedures for bccs over the last couple of years, when I discovered a lesion on my eyelid last August it was a case of 'here we go again'. My surgeon sent a letter to my GP informing him that she that she would remove the BCC with a full excision in November. Unfortunately the surgery was postponed until January. On the day of surgery the preoperative team spoke with me about scarring and I got myself ready for the operation. However, I wasn't taken down to the theatre until 5.30pm and a quicker incision biopsy was done instead. They also performed another punch biopsy on my scalp - I must have has at least 10 of these done now alongside wide excision for an infiltrative bcc and various other bcc surgeries on everywhere apart from my left leg. This was at the beginning of January and I've been told I will get my results via telephone on April 15th. In the meantime, I think another very similar lesion has started on my other eyelid. I am not sure whether to wait until I speak with the surgeon next month or contact her before. I know how busy everyone is in the hospital but this is on my mind a lot. It just seems a never ending cycle of waiting for surgery and waiting for results. Sorry to let off steam here but I honestly can't bother my nearest and dearest with this ongoing saga any more!
Seems crappy to wait until April for biopsy done in January. If scheduling is always a problem, I'd call now for a look at the new spot. My dad grew lots of BCC and squamous cell ca. It can be weary going to frequent appointments, but better to cut them out when small rather than let them grow too big when repair is more extensive.
Wishing you good outcomes,
Cindy

Hi Louise PJ
It does sound like you've been through the mill over the last few years with numerous procedures for removing BCCs so no wonder you want to "let off steam" here.
I see my consultant every 3 months, since being diagnosed with melanoma 4 years ago, and she always says to get in touch straight away if I notice any change to my skin and not to wait until my next check-up is due.
Although you only have about 4 weeks to go until your appointment, as this is by telephone and not face-to-face it would probably be a good idea to get in touch with your team now to make an appointment for this new area of concern to be looked at.
Let me know how you get on
x
Thanks Cindy. I always feel like I am wasting precious NHS time but I rang my consultant's secretary and she asked me to send a photo. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing. Thanks again for your kind email.
Thanks latchbrook. I've acted on your advice.
