Hi.cant get erection at all and even sensation.Using a pump but not stiff enough to have sex.Any recommendation please

  • When did you have the operation?

  • Unfortunately you can’t rush these things finished my Ht in February and still working on it! Good luck

  • I had my surgery October 22,2025.  Just learning how to adapt to my new situation!

I have a million questions about what to do!

  • How long after surgery did you wait before starting with a penis pump?

  • I tried a penis pump 1 month after surgery but it was slightly painful and didn’t stay hard long at all.  I’m glad to be rid of cancer but. This situation is getting to me!  My Dr didn’t seem to want to discuss penis shrinkage so I read a lot and found out what I could. One shock was the drastic change that occurred!  I read that the severing of the urethra tub and reconnecting it is what causes the penis to shorten after the surgery. I also read the larger the prostate remove the more the shorting. Unfortunately, in addition to prostate cancer I had an extremely enlarged prostate. In my non medical understanding the urethra tube is cut to remove the prostate and the space left from the removal of the prostate causes the penis to be “ pulled” into the body when they reattach the urethra tube. Is that correct?

I took meds to shrink my prostate for a year and a half which lowered my testosterone.  After taking the medication for 6 months  my penis and testicles began to get smaller. I expected change but not this much!  I was 6 inches long when soft when I started and after a 1.5 years of this med I was 3 inches long! I had always been circumcised but after shrinkage  I had so much extra skin I look uncircumcised!  Then I had a radical prostatectomy on October 22, 2025. Everything I read said after surgery my penis would be  approximately one inch shorter.  I was hoping for the best outcome possible. I read the shrinkage would be complete after removal of the catheter after 7 days. When that happened I measured at 2 inches!   It seems unbelievable that this is really me!   My wife is supportive but I’m unable to have an erection and have constant urine leakage!  I have no way to be her husband in the fullest  sense and that is awful for me!  Can you tell me if I will ever gain a normal size again?  Will I ever be able to have an erection again?    I hope some one who had been where I am now can help me with my questions!   As to the pain when I used the penis pump… I wonder if the shorting of my urethra because my prostrate was so enlarged is actually being stretched too long when I use the pump?  Will it damage anything?

  • Hello Bill (

I can understand just where you are at with your post. I can't fully answer your questions as I still own 95% of my prostate (the NHS keep taking bits!).

Below is a thread started this afternoon and my reply is the first post:
