I finished my 10 sessions of chemo a few weeks ago and am now over the initial side effects and am starting to feel ok, exercising a lot more - appetite for life and food improving along with my mood feeling much more settled - well that was until I saw my consultant a couple of days ago,
The consultant always leaves me feeling quite pessimistic about my survival chances - I know they are trying to be realistic and not offer any false dawns or hopes. however my previous consultant had a way to convey not such good news to me that I was always neither optimistic nor pessimistic just realistic.
I was in for a total of 2 minutes with my consultant and his plan is to see how I get on for 6-8 weeks without any treatment then a blood test and if it is not good news re PSA then back on the chemo wagon albeit with another type of drug, I asked the consultant to write down the name of the next which of course wasn't a great idea as I can't read what he has written - other than it begins with a Ca and ends with ol? and quite frankly I feel deflated
Hello socratesb8e0be
Thanks for your post - I am sorry to read of your situation and poor communication with your Consultant. The Chemotherapy drug will be Cabazitaxel - here's the information you need:

Carbotaxol?
I’m too on a six week abyss after chemo (Carboplatin) and feel the same anxiety about the wait and what the PSA will be by then.
However that’s sounds typically the way of the process and I suppose it will go quick and the chemo will cover us till then as it retreats from our bodies.
Keep your chin up and try to have a few good days where you can relax. But if not get back here and blow off all you want.
Take care.
Thanks Rob, slight problem with this - is the consultant doesn't always get his facts right, despite me telling I was admitted into hospital 8 months ago with a blood clot , he insisted it was Sepsis - I asked for a correction letter which has never happened,
