Eight years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, I thought it was the end for me, it all started with me having headaches every day for years, I didn’t think much of it, thought I just have headaches and I think it was normal, it was not until my then girlfriend who later became my life told me that was my body telling me something was wrong. We went for my physical and my psa was abnormal. And I have had it abnormal in the past and my extortion told me it was nothing to worry about and that we would keep an eye on it. But my girlfriend insisted that I get it checked out. We made an appointment with the urologist and my girlfriend said she could see from the digital exam he conducted that it was serious. And when we were finishing up the appointment he said for me to come back next week for testing. When I went back he said he need to do a biopsy, and oh boy it was one of the most painful things I ever went through, it put me on my ass, I wasn’t prepared for the pain afterwards. Then three days later I got the result and it was cancer, I was devastated I was in disbelief, how could I have cancer, it didn’t run in my family and I was just 51 years old, Dr. Scott Lisson was incredible. He went over every option in detail and told me the choice was mine. The robot assisted prostatectomy and chemotherapy beads.
he explained that prostatectomy cancer is a fairly slow moving cancer and that I probably have had cancer for a few years. I’m strongly urging every man to get there prostate check, it can literally save your life.
Hello Dnes9c718b
Well 8 years into a cancer journey and all is well with you is good news. Sadly many me (like me) thought prostate cancer affects other men and not me - how wrong I was!!!
Getting the message to men is always going to be hard when the general public think the test is the digital rectal examination (DRE) and not a PSA test. Sadly we men are quite stubborn!!
Best wishes - Brian.
