Hi, i feel a bit silly as all i have had is a blood test and x ray on my back. My test results showed slight elevation on WBC (11), also 7.2 on PSA. I could see my results on my NHS App but since i had an X ray on my back today i can no longer see my test results and am worried there is a big problem. A doctor did a prostate exam and it said enlarged but smooth. I suffer from anxiety and its gone through the roof. Should i be worried.
I know this is more to do with my anxiety and am sorry if i am wasting anyones time.
More angts, i just had a call from the nuerology department, late isnt it. I was asked triage questions and told a nurse will phone me in the morning for a chat and to set up an appointment for an MRI scan.
This has made me worried its something really serious, due to the late call.
I apologise for the spelling.
Hello Angsty
Nothing to see here - an MRI scan is part of the diagnostic process. NHS Hospitals don't just work 9-5 Monday to Friday. It's routine.
During my journey I have had a CT Scan on a Bank Holiday Monday and a colonoscopy at 7.30am on a Sunday morning.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi,
I had a set of bloods done routine and asked for the psa to be added.
They came back onto my GP app at 7pm on a Friday, white cells really low, liver high and psa at 5.
Advised to see the GP within 48 hrs , advised the gp to refer to specialist on the two week rule.
What a weekend, by Sunday myself and google had convinced me I had prostate cancer that had spread to liver and bones. The ache in my back also confirms this.
Any way GP refers me, and orders new bloods.
Had the mri within 10 days, then 10 days to see the consultant.
Mean time all white bloods had returned to normal, liver tested after a month and back down to near normal.
Mri shows slightly enlarged and borderline density issues and something else.
Also shows wear and tear on the spine .
Consultant is not overly concerned but has done a biopsy, I get the results tomorrow.
The thing is this forum has changed my whole mind set, that first week was hell. My mind was running away with itself and making things up.
Reading the posts here has really helped, I am not concerned now.
If it's PC it's more than likely very early stages, curable etc etc.
Results tomorrow but relaxed, you can get though this
Hi Steve1973 , great post. The more we can deter people looking at Dr Google at the start of this journey the better. The internet is a great resource but when you need reliable information, stick with MacMillan, PCUK etc to begin with. David
Best wishes, David

Hello Steve (Steve1973)
Welcome to the club - although I hope you have only signed up for a short term membership and not life!! .
Sadly Prostate Cancer has plenty of "myth" about it and it's getting the facts out there that matter. (Ask a man and he will tell you it's diagnosed by DRE - finger up the bum test - wrong!).
Gleason 7 should be very treatable on a "Curative Pathway" - just let your family know that 98% of men diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer die WITH it not OF it. You are in great company here so stick with us and together we will get through this,
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi again
i know i said i was coming off but could someone answer a couple of questions. I will probably get an MRI next week, from there what are the following timescales. MRI to result. Result to seeing a Consultant. Consultant to biopsy (if required of course) And Biopsy result to any treatment. Even ballpark is fine.
I seem more concerned about holiday bookings i have rather than the journey.
Gordon
Hello Gordon (Angsty)
The process should be MRI - Bone Scan (if required) - Biopsy. Once all these have been completed the results will be given to an MDT meeting at your hospital who will work out your best treatment options. Once the MDT team have met you will be invited in to discuss your options - the chances of meeting a Consultant at this point are minimal.
All NHS trusts are different and work on different timescales - I would suggest a period of 2 months before full diagnosis and treatment plan.
Best wishes - Brian.

Thank you for the reply Brian. They explained biopsy procedure to me (after scan if ness), not looking forward to that but hey, if its got to be done so be it. I have holidays booked 25th july for a week and a week at the end of Aug. I would rather not have a biopsy before the July holiday, its paid and i am going solo. After that i am more flexible.
