Hi all, any advise or experiences welcome, I had BPH 77ml when my cancer journey started ( about 18mths ago) and I was put on Tamsulosin which has worked ok until about 2months ago when I started having dificultes again starting and stopping peeing, I have spoken to a Mcmillan nurse and she has referred me to the urology dept saying that changing my tablets to finasteride wasn't a good idea because of bad side effects ( Depression and worse ED ). She is suggesting a possible TURPS operation which is making me think maybe I made the wrong choice with the HT/RT, that I had, and should have maybe had it removed. Just when I thought it was going to be over, nope. As Millibob has said before "Cancer the gift that keeps on giving"  :-(  Love to you all.

  • Hello

It's a hard choice surgery or HT/RT and you will never know if you made the wrong choice.

I had "flow" issues - if you read my journey (click on my name or avatar) my prostate grew until I needed a catheter for 10 months and then I had a TURP operation and all was well with the "waterworks".

The TURP in simple terms takes a few slices off the bottom of the prostate to help your flow. It's at least one night in hospital possibly 2 but I got out after 1. There's no pain and it did me the world of good.

Yep my 2 go to slogans on the Community - "Cancer the gift that keeps on giving" and "Every day's a school day".

If I can help or you need more information - give me a shout - here's a link for you:

    Best wishes - Brian.
