Hi all , 67 yr old ,
Just had MRI results , goin Monday for the Biopsy , Nervous to say the least.Although procedure explained still anxious.
I Read the MRI findings letter sent by my Hospital to GP and me , Im no scientist , . Dont understand most of it.
Learning about Levels ,T`s, Likert ,scores,,different treatments ,lesions, stages, medical terms plus more is all flying over my head at the moment.
It seems on the forum many guys are clued up on all these things.
Sorry to waffle on, First day, the anxiety of not really knowing whats goin on is awful.
I have read many posts over last few days and have taken some positive vibes from the posts.
Thanks for reading. All the best to all.

Hello Hammer. Oh how your post brings back memories of where we were 5 years ago with no idea what the words possible prostate cancer means. All there was available was a lot of frightening information and most of it not relevant to us. Nowadays things are a lot better and there has been a good book whose title says it all -Fighting Prostate Cancer, A Survival Guide.

This gives you a good basic understanding of what test are done to find out firstly if you have prostate cancer and then what treatments are available. There is a very good statistic that 98% of men die with it and not of it. Also prostate cancer is normally one of the slower growing cancers so if you do have it you have time to deal with it. Until you know what is happening from the tests just learn the basics but try and put it on the back burner or you will find yourself going down a rabbit hole. Also please try not to Google as you don't know what you are dealing with and a lot of the information can be outdated. Just take it one day at a time with your next step being the biopsy -yes you lose your dignity for this one but it is usually the only one and the experts have seen it all before and will put you at your ease. If you want some help deciphering the MRI report if you have it then just ask - it is a good idea to ask for copies of all your reports.
No question is off limits so ask anything you want and we will try and help. All the best for Monday.
Hi Hammer. , we all started knowing nothing about PCa but have gradually picked up information although none of us are medically trained. As Steve mentioned, if you have any results you don’t understand, then by all means let us know and we will attempt to answer it. Our very strong advice is don’t use Dr Google as there is so much misinformation you will worry yourself silly. The guys and girls on here will give you help, based on real experience. You can see information about others (if their profile is complete) by clicking on their name or avatar. David
Thank you for your kind and comforting words. Much appreciated. I will read that link when my head settles. Thank u.
Ok Hammer
Will summarise briefly
PSA obviously not high, that's good, size of tumour very similar to mine just before I started treatment, sounds like could be pressing on the gland edge.
So wait for the biopsy but looks to be still contained and potentially curable.
Fingers crossed for a Gleeson score 3/3, 3/4 or similar.
Hopefully they can start u soon on HT to stop it in its tracks before Radiotherapy starts
Best wishes
Steve
