I am coming up to the second PSA test following my prostatectomy, the first result was less than 0.03. I was advised that I should only worry if it goes above 0.2, this doesn’t seem a very high figure. I know as individuals are journey is not the same as the next man but what are the chances that my PSA will be raised if I know longer have a prostate. I know I may well have been told this but I can’t remember.

Hi A
.03 is great , looks like they got rid of it, only be concerned if it's starts moving upwards again, next PSA an important one obviously.
The only reason PSA would increase if there were some cancer cells left just outside the gland or had spread elsewhere but looking at your original stats it looks a low key affair so fingers crossed you'll be fine.
Good luck
Steve
Hi Al985 , even though your prostate has been removed your body creates PSA in other places, so realistically never reaches zero. Anything below 0.1 is classed as undetectable so no panic. It is a bit stressy every quarter waiting for results but you will gradually worry less as each test comes around. David
