First post op PSA

So Friday was my first post op PSA. Tried to get the result on Friday evening but no one to ask. GP receptionist advised that as blood was arranged by the hospital my GPb would not see the results until informed by the consultant. Rang CSN this am, remembered to leave Full name, address, hospital number and contact details, forgot hospital number the last time I rang and got a gentle telling off. Kept myself busy most of the today so I had something to focus on other than the result. Phone call early evening from my CNS who commented on my bright mood and actually for the first time asked how I was doing. Not bad, it only took 6+ weeks. Anyway, drum roll, PSA undetectable.  Huge sigh of relief!!

Now only got the histology results from the removed prostate to worry about! Fingers crossed.

  • That's good news.  Let's hope histology results good too.

  • Hello Alan (

Two bits of good news, your PSA is undetectable and the CNS has been OK with you - long may it continue.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi brian. When I heard her voice, I was determined to sound bright and cheerful no matter what the result was.

In fact, her first words were you "sound chipper" as if it was the last thing she expected from me.

Having given me the results she went on to say.I'll see you on monday at clinic. Bit bizarre, considering our relationship prior to this phone call. But who cares, as you say, two sets of good news.

  • Fantastic news! Brilliant to hear! I’ll be in a very similar situation in a week or two… I fully understand the frustration and anxiety of waiting!

  • Wow amazing news . Just need the histology and you will be happier .

    Best wishes & Hugs

  • Thanks to you all. My head has been all over the place since the initial diagnosis but I have got through it largely as a result of the ongoing support from this forum.Al xxx
