I have seen on this forum that some people can see their test results on line. I have my first Post op PSA on Friday but then go away for a week. My first meeting the surgeon is 10 days later. Is there anyway for me to access these results on line either before I leave later that day or at any point whilst I'm away.
Hospital results can not be seen on NHS app.
Cheers

Al985 unfortunately the NHS systems are not integrated throughout England. Each Authority was given autonomy and we have ended up with a complete patchwork of systems. If you have been given full access to your records by your GP surgery, then that is probably the best it gets. In my own area in Hampshire only a few hospital records are starting to get onto the system (mainly appointments) but test results don’t show. I contacted the PALS team at my local hospital and found out which departments were integrated and which ones were coming on stream soon - Oncology and Pathology being the last!
Hope this helps,
David
Hello Alan (Al985)
I am under The Christie in Manchester and we have a system called PEASS (Prostate Easy Access Self Service). I book my own blood test (at a Hospice a mile from home) - have my bloods done and my PSA comes back by e-mail the following morning. It's also sent to my GP but takes a few days to hit my records - and i have full access too.
As David David2017 it depends just which NHS Trust you are under.
Best wishes - Brian.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I had my surgery at Addenbrookes and was given a MyChart account in advance. I can see all my hospital test results there.
My GP uses the NHS app, so the hospital doesn’t see stuff from my GP and my GP doesn’t see the hospital results. Very frustrating!
Possibly a bit late now before your trip, but maybe check with the hospital which of the multitude of systems they use and get registered on it?
Hi.
it would appear that I drew the short straw when deciding on which hospital I had my prostatectomy at. There are none of the systems other hospitals have in place for patients to receive their results and the support from the so called specialist cancer support nurse is anything but that. The surgeon may well have been excellent but the ongoing care does not match his skills. I am struggling not to name and shame, at least the hospital, but after this joint appointment with the consultant and the specialist cancer nurse, my care will be handed over to the nurse so to alienate her her would not be a good move. I am most definitely stuck between a rock and a hard place. It may be that I am expecting too much from the Specialist nurse so can I ask what level of support other prostatectomy patients have received.

I had a mix of experience with the nurses on the run up to surgery (my tests and consultations were split across two hospitals, convenience for tests at Hinchingbrooke and surgery at Addenbrookes - both using different systems btw ). Almost all of the nurses are absolutely fantastic. Only one was rather abrupt, never called and was “I’m busy, why are you disrupting my day by asking questions?” When I contacted her. And that just happened to be my allocated specialist…
Luckily I had a team list and knew which nurses would give me clear answers and called them instead
Since surgery I have had several calls from a variety of different nurses and get prompt replies when I post messages into MyChart. My actual specialist nurse has, however, not contacted me even once.
I find it really difficult to accept the nurses. Don't care about the job that they are doing. I keep harping on about the lack of support from my allocated.Nurse but people rely on them. Combined with the fact that they are the gatekeeper to the consultant, life is really, really difficult if you've not got a good relationship.
I am truly hoping I get a positive biopsy report from my surgery and then I will transfer back to the. Referring hospital, who are on a different level when it comes to ongoing support.
I will happily name this hospital, it is Rotherham district general. The care I have received from them from the first appointment where I was literally shaking tutor nerves and the continue care. I'm getting now could not be bettered by anywhere.
Thank you Rotherham
