Hi to all new to all this just got told I have prostate cancer two weeks ago with a Gleason score of 6 and on watch and wait and have my bloods done every 6 months am 49 it's making my anxiety very bad how do you guys deal with it thank you
Hi Teduk and a warm welcome to the forum though sorry you have to be here and you have prostate cancer, but great new it's been caught very early and your on watchful waiting with regular PSA checks. Understandable your anxiety is through the roof, a cancer diagnosis will do that to everyone, your gleason score indicates a very small slow growing tumour that is unlikely to spread any time soon if ever, and if it were to get bigger your 6 monthly tests will show this and your treatment would be altered to deal with it, you may be lucky and will never need treatment, but should treatment ever be needed it will be to cure, The initial shock of your diagnosis will subside, just needs a little time, I'm sure a few words from the guys and girls on the forum will help with you anxiety as well, take care.
Eddie
Hi Teduk
Sorry to hear but as Eddiel has already said looks like been caught early.
Gleeson 6 is the lowest u can get , I assume that your PSA is also low ish.
They have put u on active surveillance so they must be happy with your stats otherwise they would have suggested treatment.
So just keep monitoring it , could be handy to get the tumour size in mm cos that can help you keep your eye on it.
I was on AS for 4 years and in that time tumour size went from 3mm to 13mm , not saying that yours will go up like that .
All the best
Steve
Hello Teduk - Another warm welcome to the online Community from me.
I agree with eddiel and Grundo here. You have joined the "club" that no one wants to join but at the moment you are not quite an active member. It's had enough having a diagnosis but you are in great hands and you are being managed with the 6 monthly checks.
I have put a link below to our "cancer and your emotions" section which I hope will help you with your anxiety.
If I can help in any other way please let me know.
Keep us posted as to how you get on - we are always here for you.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Teduk , it is always worrying to get a PCa diagnosis, but as the guys have already mentioned, you can think of yourself as being lucky to have found it so early. You will be monitored and the likelihood is that this goes for decades. If it does start to become an issue, you will likely be on a curative path, in addition by then there will be many new alternative treatments/cures that are being developed now.
My advice is forget it and just live a normal life. Best wishes, David.
