Trying to come to terms with prostate cancer diagnosis received yesterday. High anxiety and stress suppose that’s normal but trying to get on with things as normal and stay positive.
You’ve come to the right place for positivity and advice. At the beginning I didn’t like the word “journey”, but that’s what it is with branch lines, parallel tracks and dead ends. Folks here will be able to help at all stages. My number 1 tip is to do your research and stand up to “authority figures” who think they know best. It’s your body and stay in control.
Good Morning Pict A warm welcome to the club you didn't expect to join !!
The diagnosis and waiting to start a treatment plan are the hardest part of your "journey" but staying positive is half of the battle. As both Huffies and eddiel have said above, we are a great bunch, so feel free to chat and ask anything you want - nothing's too trivial and someone will have the answer who's "been there - done that".
To help us help you can I ask you to complete your profile with a few facts and figures - Gleason score - TNM and initial PSA. To do this on your home page click on the icon of the chair (top right) then "profile" and then "edit". This will stop us asking you the same questions and it will be a reminder of just where you have been.(You can read mine by clicking on my name or avatar).
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Pict
As has already been said if you can post your stats it will help u get the best advice.
If your stats are low then there's a good chance it is curable and it won't be such a stressful journey.
So stats, PSA, Gleeson, what does the MRI say , hope confined to the gland.
Best wishes
Steve
You’ve come to the right place. Go through the various members’ threads and - more importantly- bios (click on their name or avatar) and look for those starting with symptoms/ PSA / MRI / biopsy results similar to yours. Don’t panic - your nerves and mental state will soon settle down once you get to the treatment phase. AW
Hello Pict, from a wife’s position, I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis but welcome you warmly to this forum. In the early stages, I was beside myself with anxiety for my husband. The diagnostics took a long while to get through and not knowing what exactly we were up against was the hardest part.
As others have said, I would strongly advise doing your research and ask all the questions you need to ask at either your medical appointments or here. Although none of us profess to being prostate cancer specialists etc we have all ‘been there, done that and got the t shirt’ in one way or another and talking with others about their experiences really ddid help me - and, by extension, my husband.
i hope all goes well for you!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
