I am 74 and just had my biopsy report - Gleason score 7 I have been offered treatment of radio therepy or prostate removal. I do not know enough about either treatment to make a decision. If any of you kind Gentlemen would be good enough to tell me which treatment you have chosen , the reason why and would you make the same decision again having had the treatment I would really appreciate it. I am still working, fairly fit for my age and not on any medication.
Hello Mr.11 A warm welcome to the online Prostate Cancer Community.
Your question is the most asked question on this forum - and there is no one answer. Both routes have pros and cons so my advice to you is to sit down with a pen and paper marked with the aforementioned "pros and cons" as they would affect you personally.
Read advice on both routes on here (Cancer information & Support on the top bar) and Prostate Cancer UK but NOT Dr Google!! The other option is to read the profiles of Community Members who have been down either route. You will receive posts from other Community members on this thread but I will start you off.
I am 2 years down a 3 year HT/RT journey - I have had issues - hence the 3 years - you can read my journey by clicking on my avatar. If you want to ask me any questions feel free.
Good Luck and Best wishes - Brian.

Morning Mr.11 and welcome to the forum though sorry to hear you have cancer. You have come to the right place for advice and support from the guys and their partners If you have any other results, your PSA or TNM staging and are ok with letting us know, it would be a big help in helping you find the best treatment for you, take care.
Eddie

Âge 71 . 2 years since robotic prostatectomy. . Gleason 4+3 . No postop problems really . Still mild incontinence ( wear a light pad if going drinking or for a 10k walk , otherwise not ) . Can achieve erections , but no great interest . Chose surgery to avoid hormone therapy and a tur(p) .Would probably choose the same again , My view is that if you’re fairly convinced you still have a tumour only in the prostate , and you’re Gleason is 7 ( especially 4+3 , and you’re psa is less than 20 , surgery can be a good choice .
Hi Mr.11 - my PSA was 11, then 13. Also T3a. I went for a triple therapy called brachytherapy boost, which has an excellent cure rate for this specific level of cancer progression. Feel free to click on my name to see my detailed chronological history. AW
