Hi, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in August 2022,,psa of 12.5,,  t3b, gleason 9 aggressive..luckily not in bones or lymph nodes,, Started hormone therapy in the November and had intensive radiotherapy of the whole pelvis area, just to make sure of any bits trying to get hold of a lymph node,,

Finally decided to say hi after sitting here staring at the flashing cursor for over a year now lol

My psa was down to 3.5 from the hormone treatment, then down to 0.87 after radiotherapy,, and just before Christmas my latest Psa test was 0.37... Which is all good, but makes for a very emotional Christmas and new year Joy.

  • Good Morning   A warm welcome to the online Prostate Community

Your journey is pretty much the same as mine - we are both "luck boys" to have Gleason 9 scores and be on a "Curative Pathway". In fact I set of with a PSA of 182 and after 2 years mine isn't as low as yours - although I am due my 6 monthly test next month - so with a bit of luck mine will be down again.

When I found out how many "page views" the Community had last year (over 6 million) it shows for every member posting on here others are "ghosting" through the site sucking information off the posts - so you were not alone. The fact so many people read the forums but don't join and post shows we are doing some good!!

I wish you well on your future journey - feel free to offer advice as you see fit to other Community members based on your own journey to date.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Morning Brian and thank you for your reply, I hope you get the results you want next month, if you are anything like me, even after a year, it's still a emotional time, so good luck....

Yes I spent months just picking through information from the site.. And starting to type but never posting, I have the fortunate yet unfortunate pleasure of having my mother and 2 other friends who have all had breast cancer, so talking to them really helped and was easier because they understood, but still feel so alone at times, so finally decided to post and connect with people effected with prostate cancer,

    Thank you - Neil..

  • Hello Neil

I have come to terms with my cancer - I have it and I am dealing with it - I am on a "Curative Pathway" but if it comes back there are other treatments down the line. I have found since becoming a "Champion" we on this forum are the "lucky ones" - I do help out on the other forums - and boy - if you are going to get a cancer ours is the one to get!! I do get emotional - that's the Hormone Therapy - but i don't worry!!

I hope your mother is doing fine - I can always provide the link to the Breast Cancer Forum if she needs it!

As you say - the only people who understand cancer are those with it and their family - it's a bond we all have.

    best wishes - Brian.

  • Good morning Neil.

A very warm welcome from another 'lurker'. My husband was diagnosed 3.5 years ago with T4 Gleason 9 aggressive form and I spent a long time gleaning information, but decided to take the plunge 8 months ago. By posting and sharing it has helped us (and it is very much us as in my husband and myself) realise that we are not on our own. Where we live we do not have access to a cancer support group so this forum is the nearest we can come to getting the help we all need.

When you have time can I suggest you put a brief summary of your journey, PSA TNM ....on your profile page so that if you ask a question in future then the brilliant people on here will be able to give you more targeted help.

As a group we like to celebrate our successes as well as air our concerns and along the way add in a good dose of humour. It is OUR community so look forward to hearing more from you if you feel like it.

  • Hi,  hope all is well with your husband, I've been lurking these pages for a while now lol Joy I've added a brief description on my bio, thanks for that, it's all a bit new to me, lol

    Thank you

  • Hi, my mum is doing great thank you, she is now 10 years clear, she opted for breast removal straight away. She has done awesome,, her attitude to it all has been a inspiration.

    Thank you
