Hello Michael here going to be having radiotherapy, was told in November that I was going for the surgery ,was still under the impression that that was happening until Friday things are not going well keep on having to chase up people ect 63 years ago and had my first PSA test last year in August I wish they had done it before hand as I had problems before but I was left with me thinking it was nothing or something else
Hello Michael60 A warm welcome to the online Prostate Cancer Community.
Yes, the Prostate Cancer journey can be a pain in the rear end having to chase appointments up. So you are NOT having surgery, I presume then you are on the Hormone Therapy/Radiotherapy pathway?
Can you expand on what isn't going well and I will see if we can help to put things right. Can you also give us some details of your journey to date - diagnosis - treatment plan. If I can ask you to put these in your profile - we won't have to ask you again. Go to the chair on your home page, click on that, then "profile" and then "edit" and tell us a little bit as to how you got here.
Thanks in anticipation - Brian.

Hi Michael and another warm welcome from me, I am sorry to hear your diagnosis and know what a difficult time this can be, and understand how you feel regarding trying to contact people, sometimes it's easier to contact your nurse rather than your doctor or consultant. Many of us had problems before we were diagnosed so if you are ok to talk about them you will find support here, take care,
Eddie
It's get to be a joke called the doctor again to get a appointment for my injection but they have none the told maybe I should have got an appointment first be for taking the tablets now they are saying ethe hospital is ment to be doing it but UCLH have discharged me back to the local hospital can't get hold of the nurse in the urological team for love or money
Hello Michael60 If you are still under the hospital and they are responsible for your Hormone Injection and you are having issues, I would advise you to contact the hospital PALS office (Patient Advice and Liaison Service.) Tell them of your issues and that it's causing you some anxiety - they should be able to resolve the problem.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Michaelodon, Sadly the NHS is understaffed and overstretched and these things can happen As Brian suggests the PALS office can help with your injection, also ask for your lead clinical nurse LCN at urology's contact number, mine sorts out all my issues, take care.
Eddie
I have been discharged from UCLH so under PAH in Essex ,I have but don't get a reply from them very quickly IE three or so days if that they never answer the phone just call you from it it's Friday now so I will be lucky to have a reply by Tue that leaves me with the problem of getting a nurse or doctor to give me the injection
Good Evening Michael
I assume you are now with The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. You need to contact the PALS team there to get your issues resolved. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

A prostate Cancer journey is something you need all the help you can get. You should have been allocated a Cancer Nurse Specialist (CNS) to answer any questions you have and should have a name and direct line number.
Most Community members who have travelled this journey or like me who are still on it find we have to be pro-active and politely forceful to get what we need.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes - Brian.
