Beginning of november 2023 my dad started complaining of severe stomach pain on and off constipation then loss of appetite and we noticed he was losing wait. I took him to the drs at beginning off December he referred him for a blood test and ct scan. The blood results came back with a high level psa of 30 and was referred to urologist under the 2 week rapid access. The ct scan showed enlarged lymph nodes and an enlarged spleen so was referred to Heamatology. This took us upto Xmas bearing in mind the pain he has been has been unbearable he lost 10kg in weight from the beginning of December till end of December can’t eat anything as the pain is unbearable dr prescribed fortisip to keep his calorie intake up. We went to see the urologist 28/12 he felt the prostate and said he needs a prostate biopsy as felt enlarged abnormal prostate. Told him his pain is unbearable that is when he told us about the lymph nodes being enlarged and spleen. I was calling daily to get him an urgent prostate biopsy which they managed to do on the 6/1. Then we had an Heamatology appointment 9/1 we sat there for 3 hours for the dr to just feel the lymph nodes and spleen and tell us he needs a biopsy of the lymph nodes which could take 1/2 weeks to come through. My dad has been through excruciating pain and he has just been left, I’ve called and cried for them to help him. They organised a biopsy of the lymph nodes for the 16/1 and a bone scan for the 18/1
we are still waiting called them this morning to see if any of the results are back. I was told only the results from prostate biopsy is back but need the others too for them to then have a mdt meeting before they call us with an appointment. I just can’t take this much more I can’t watch him in all this pain. Can anyone help me atm all I know is t3nomo
Hi Daughter13, Can I ask Is your father at home or in hospital? It seems in this pain he should be in hospital to avail of all pain relief possible as they have so many different options there from oxygen, gas and air etc. Love and take care, Florence
Hello Daughter13
Regarding the pain: You need to ring 111now, or if you can get dad to an urgent care centre or A & E. Once there tell them he's under urology and oncology.
Keep us posted.
Best wishes - Brian.
