Hi all, does anyone have experience of NDL treatment relating to advanced prostate cancer please?
I'm hearing great things from some very eminent clinicians and wonder if anyone has anything to offer by way of advice in this regard?
best wishes
Mark
Hello Mark A Met A warm welcome to the online Prostate Community.
I think you may have your abbreviations wrong in the title of this thread. I assume you are talking about LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone?).
As far as I am aware this is not licenced for use in the UK - I think I read about in some clinical trials but I don't think you will find anyone in this Community has used it (I have been wrong before!!).
Best wishes - Brian.

Low Dose Naltrexone.
Little work has been done with prostate cancer specifically but there is a study in association with immunotherapy which seems to show some positive responses.

As Brian says, whether it is licensed for use in the UK could be an issue, unless it is on a trial basis or you can get it with a private prescription. It is a low cost generic drug which means there is little incentive for drug companies to conduct trials although they are trying to raise awareness of it for MS sufferers. There is also some evidence of efficacy in different diseases.
I do take my hat off to you Alwayshope (a proverbial one that is as I never wear one) as you always manage to come up with an appropriate link to the right information. It's like magic
Ah don't worry Buzzers . I am learning how to do those linky things - the trouble is I need to have Alwayshope 's knowledge!

Hi Buzzers.
I was a research and development scientist for many years so got used to searching and evaluating scientific papers. The trick is knowing what keywords to put into the search engine, and in what order, to get the most appropriate response. It also helps if you know which are the more reliable publishers. Glad that you like the links. It has been a steep learning curve for the nerd in me who needs to understand how this prostate cancer works but leads to some interesting conversations with the oncologist over my husband's treatment.
Have a good evening.
