Hi. My husband was diagnosed just before Christmas with Gleason 4+3. Psa 7.7. Stage t 2a Unable to have mri cos of metal coils in his brain due to hemorrhage 20 years ago
has had ct scan today and bone scan in couple of weeks
Finding it very difficult living with the anxiety that it has spread from the prostrate
Hi 1966 and welcome
Sorry to hear about your OH.
Just wondering how they did a staging if they couldn't do a MRi,?
Perhaps they did another type of scan but anyway T2 indicates that tumour still within the gland which makes it much easier to treat.
Come back when u have other scan results and fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Best wishes
Steve
Hello 1966 A warm welcome to the online Prostate Cancer Community - it's an exclusive club!!
Gleason 7 PSA 7.7 and T2a - is not a bad diagnosis. The T2a is the indicator that there's no spread. I assume the diagnosis was from a biopsy.
T2a - "The cancer is in half of one side or lobe of the Prostate - or less".
On that basis alone I would put my hat on there being no spread - although don't forget we are only a group of people brought together by the same bond "prostate cancer".
I hope my post reduces your anxiety levels and enables you both to enjoy the New Year!
May I ask you to pop your details on your profile - this helps us to help you by not asking the same questions. To do this go to your home page, click on the chair in the top right, then "profile" and then "edit" and tell us how you got here. (You can read my profile by clicking on the beach - but you don't need to write a book!)
I hope this helps - feel free to ask any questions, however trivial - you will get answers.
Best wishes - Brian.

Yes, makes no sense but hopefully the CT and bone scan will confirm that localised.
The other point is that with his low PSA and lowish Gleeson another pointer to no spread.
I would probably assume that they are basing the staging on those figures because with a PSA of 7 and Gleeson 4+3 unlikely to be a stage 3 , obviously not unheard of but unlikely
Good luck
Steve
Hi 1966,
Sorry to hear about your husband. I understand completely how you feel, the anxiety and the fear of loosing him. My husband diagnosed 5 weeks ago - you can see his profile. I was physically shaking for 3 days and then I stumbled upon this community. I learnt a lot. I now know that this is not the end of the world and there are so many treatments and options available. After the initial shock and meeting the oncologist I know now that PC can be treated or managed even if not cure. I also learn from this community here how important is to keep your husband active (mine swimming every morning for years) and to keep positive as his quality of life is really good. Check out Shar post. They booked 3 cruises for 2024 and a land holiday. What is more lovely than this? Stay with this community, it is inspiring.
I wish you a healthy peaceful 2024
Lots of love
