Hi Ajngolf, welcome to the club, even if you didn't want to join.
Making the right decision if a very difficult and personal choice. There are, however, many people on here to give advice and to share their experiences on thei journey.
You can read mine by clicking on my icon. I personally weht on hormone therapy and radiotherapy. The main side effects I had/have is hot sweats and fatigue. I had problems with peeing towards the end of RT but have been given tablets for that.
Everyone is different so research as much as you can,
Keep us updated and all the best on your journey.
Regards
Peter
Hi Ajngolf
I fully agree with Outdoor Walker (Peter) above - he's so right, you need as much research and people's opinions as you can get.
I didn.t have a choice and went down the HT/RT route and 17 months down the line I feel great with few side effects (boobs, hot flushes and itchy skin) but it's all under control and I can live well with it. (You can follow my story by clicking on the icon of the beach next to my name),
I can understand people wanting surgery - get the cancer out of my body - and I have read people's journeys on here that have both good and bad endings - but surgery is a quicker process.
It's a very personal choice and I think surgery might depend on your age and fitness levels to help fight the side/after effects.
If you want to know more about the HT/RT route feel free to ask.
Whatever you choice - best of luck with your ongoing treatment - keep us posted as to your progress.
Kind Regards
Brian,

Hi. I have my appt with surgeon on Wed to decide which route to take. I am leaning towards surgery. I'm 59 and reasonably fit. Gleason 7 3+4 psa 4.9 T2. Will be interesting to see what surgeon says. (Only have appt with surgeon and not one with RT specialist so not sure if they have decided what they think I should do?
