Hello Everyone.
I was informed about this forum this morning, so I thought, why not. I was diagnosed with PC back in 2015. It is type 3B. It was detected not only in the prostate, but also in the seminal vesicles. I had a full course of radiotherapy and 3 years of hormone therapy. During the time I was on hormone therapy, I had regular PSA blood tests and the results were always less than 0.1. After coming off hormone therapy, my PSA started to rise. I had a PET scan and they found that the PC had returned but hadn't spread any further.
So, what I now have is recurrent PSA with no hope of a cure. I am back on hormone therapy, but that is as a form of control. PSA readings are back to less than 0.1. I am not sure for how long, but I live in hope.
That's me and the reason why I joined here.
For me, my thoughts on this, is it's here, I have to accept it and I must enjoy what time I have left, however long that is.
Take care, one and all.
Hi Mike
I again was informed I had Prostrate Cancer in late 2014 and had my prostate removed in early 2015, things went well then in 2018 PSA was raised so I had radiotherapy then it again raised again so had Hormone injections. I was then put on Abrotone but now have problems with my bones and later this week I have a PETScan
Hi Paul.
They never removed my prostate because it had spread beyond that. If they removed it for you, that would indicate that the PC was localised. I found the hormone therapy injections to be good for bringing down the PSA and keeping it down. One thing I found out about hormone therapy injections, is that for the length of time that you are on them, when you stop, it takes the same amount of time for the side effects to wear off.
The PET scan wasn't as bad as I thought it was. It was very good at telling me what was actually going on. It should help you understand better what is going on.
Hopefully it won't be too bad, the results, I mean. Good luck.
