Hi All
just finished 39 sessions of Radiotherapy and finish 9 months of HT in mid May. My original Testosterone was 29 (quite on the high end for a man of 66) but HT took it down to 0.4. Wondered if anyone has similar experiences and what I should expect testosterone to recover to. Also my psa is virtually 0 now and wondered how much that could rise relative to testosterone recovery rate
thanks

Stavros, do you want the good news or the bad news? Well, there's no bad news unless you include the dreaded ED.
It took over 13 months from last (6 monthly) Hormone injection to be hormone free. My Oncologist took a Testosterone reading in February when I saw him for my 6 monthly check-up. I thought it might be 4 or 5, but it came back at 21.8 (I must have a loose connection somewhere). There is a bit of life coming back in the downstairs department. It's taking it's time though.
I decided to just let it come back on it's own. If it does, it does. If not I will have a soft spot! At least my libido is still very low, so I don't think about what I can't do.
I am 59 now, my PSA was down to 0.09 at the end of my Radiation treatment. Now it has crept up a little to 0.25
Nothing to worry about yet! (if ever). As long as I am under 2.0 I will be classed as being in Remission.
Hope this helped. Thanks to Ulls who signposted you to me.

Hi again Ulls
Just read your story and can see you have really been through it - so thanks so much for taking interest in other peoples issues - although I have been through 2 treatments with recurrence my cancer remains localised so my story pales into insignificance compared with yours
best wishes
Stavros
Thanks Steve
That is really helpful - I’ve been told that if my psa rises to 2 then they would look again so I will await to see how testosterone affects results. Like you I can’t stand to attention and have been given a vacuum pump which I’m not hopeful about. Yes it will be interesting though if libido returns!!
