I was diagnosed 16 years ago following a routine health check. I have had two rounds of HIFU, seven weeks of radio therapy and during that time I have been on Zoladex and/or bicalutimide. Zoladex kept the cancer under control for a few years then my PSA started rising so I went back on bicalutimide along with the Zoladex. This kept my PSA close to zero until last year it started to rise again, a PET/CT scan showed the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes. I have stopped the bicalutimide and kept the Zoladex, and also started Enzalutimide.
These treatments will not cure the cancer just keep it under control, hence the journey. I’m not fighting the cancer, I’m never going to win that one, we are are going on a journey together. I don’t know where it’s going to take me, and sometimes it can be a bumpy ride.
I will wait to see how the new treatment works out, meanwhile I get on with life.
I have to say a big Thank You to the Cancer Centre in Milton Keynes Hospital, they do an amazing job.
