I was diagnosed ith Prostrate Cancer in November 2022. I have added a biopsy and bone scan.

My Gleason score was 4+4 8 T2a N0 M0.

I have seen my consultant Mr Sundaramurthy. He told me my Cancer was contained. I took his advice. Now I am on HT . I have had tablets. And had my first HT injection last month.   Prostrap. That will be every 3 month for two years. Also Radiation Therapy at the end of May through June 20 sessions.

What worries me is.Is this working. I feel like I'm left behind. No feed back.

Anyway.im glad I have joined

  • Hello El Tel. I’m afraid I can’t tell you whether or not the treatment is working. The one certainty I have found in this journey with my husband is that there is a lot of uncertainty!  My husband started the hormone therapy at the beginning of November. In January he had to have a blood test for an unrelated condition. Out of curiosity, he asked for his PSA to be checked - 8 weeks after starting the HT. it had fallen from hovering around 10 to 0.29.   He finished his radiotherapy at the beginning of March but his PSA won’t be checked until the beginning of June. We were surprised by the delay but we’re told that this is because the prostate will soon be inflamed after the RT and the PSA reading might not be a true reading. We also thought he might have a repeat scan at this time but this was not on offer. So, we wait…..

I wish you all the very best on your own journey and it will be interesting to hear how it goes.

  • Hi   and welcome to the forum. The only marker the medics can use is PSA, it's not perfect but does give them an idea of how well the Prostap is working. At this stage of your treatment you should be getting a PSA test every time you have a Prostap injection. The waiting between injections is the worst part.

When I was first diagnosed in 2018 my PSA was 11 and it had risen to 15 by the time HT started in October that year. My Gleason score was 4+5=9 and staging was T3A N0 M0. I had 20 sessions of RT in early 2019 and three years of Prostap. Since my last Prostap injection nearly two years ago my PSA has stabilised at 0.2, so currently in remission.

I hope that helps and please keep in touch on here.
