Hi I am new to the group.
I have been struggling with my diagnosis.
Due to have HIFU on right side and active surveillance on left side.
I am finding it very hard to deal with the diagnosis and knowledge that I will still have cancer left in my body.
Is it normal to feel this way?
Thank you.
So not too big, as long as not near the capsule edge I would consider AS for whole gland. Otherwise you'll be looking at potentially 2 treatments.
Thouught that HI fu was considered for less in term of side effects.
Have u been offered external beam to cover the whole gland.
The latest type is very focused and minimal side effects.
I had this 5 years ago, no side effects now.
I would do more research and scrutinize everything, time is on your side,
I presume your PSA is not too high
Steve
PSA is only 3 however, been advised I need treatment on right.
AS been offered in very short term however, can have either bracky, whole beam radiotherapy or prostatectomy.
I want treatment anyway and HIFU is likely to extend the time before I need whole gland treatment.
Stephen
Ok , am not an expert on hi Fu but see what u can find out about success rates for hi Fu.
External beam and surgery roughly the same success.
All I would say , if it was me , wouldn't want ,in effect, treatment done twice, just my opinion, see what others say
Steve
I understand what you are saying.
Quality of life is important and HIFU is my preference. Ideally whole gland but my circumstances mean only 50/50.
It is frustrating but I know every individual is different and things don't always work out the way we want.
I would be interested to hear the opinions of others.
Stephen
Hi Steve
Couldn't agree more I wouldn't want to have to go through this again.
Regards
Stuart
