Hi- hubby had biopsy results today. Gleason 7. Mp MRI showed N0.
doc said surgery would be curative but wants bone scan - I’ve read some research about bone scan showing mets even though nothing seen in nodes?
is this likely as this will mean no surgery and alters prognosis. So scared. Any advice/ experiences appreciated thank you
Hi
once they’ve done all the scans, if nothing shows, then there’s a few things they can do, hormone therapy, surgery, to name a few there’s no need to panic, it’s been caught early. The urology team once this is all done will put different treatments to you both, again no need to worry, thousands have this done. It may disrupt life for a bit, but all will go well,
Thanks - appreciate your advice. Will wait & see for now.
Hi, try not to be scared. I know that the word Cancer makes you think the worst. It did initially with me last year.
I was a Gleason 3+4 (7), had the Hormones and Radiotherapy option and I am now in Remission. I don't regret that decision, even though I am still struggling with my fitness (well not proper fitness, just the ability to do things without having to need a rest).
Joe who replied to you first, is just over 10 years into his Prostate Cancer. This shows it's not the end of the world. Yes, everyone is different, it affects us all differently.
Your Doctor seems positive, and so should you are your husband be.
As Grundo said, if the PSA is low, the Cancer is probably contained.
My PSA was initially 12.9 and my bone scan came back clear.
There are so many new treatments now, if you can both try to stay positive. I know it's hard. Easy to say, not so easy to do.
If you can just be there for your husband, hopefully everything will go smoothly. There are quite a few wives in this forum. You could get tips from some of them.
Best of luck.

Thanks Steve- you make sense as you all have. It’s pretty dark at the mo but I’ll certainly be there for him. I think was just shocked at the need for bone scan as had kind of got our heads around the probability of Ca from the mpMRI and thought surgery but as you say. The doors open to a lot these days. Today’s another day. Thanks again.
