Hello I have been diagnosed with PC two weeks ago. At present awaiting on appointment to determine what treatment. I have localised PC and have been told that I have the choice of either radiotherapy or surgery to remove the prostate. Been doing a lot of reading on both options, not sure what would be best. Not keen on the surgery due to the incontinence and the fact I might not be able to get out much. However, with the radiotherapy you have the problem with fatigue! My Geeson score was 4+3. and PSA was 15.
Rapid,
Did your Oncologist recommend one or the other? I had the choice taken away last year, I was unsuitable for surgery, so I had the Hormones and 20 fractions of Radiotherapy.
I was told that I had to be on Hormones for 3 months before the Radiation treatment could begin.
There's a guy I work with, he has just started 20 fractions of Radiotherapy but without the Hormones. It's a bit early to see any possible side effects. There's also intensive Radiation treatment, 5 sessions, also without Hormone treatment.
Remember, not everyone gets side effects, mine was mostly fatigue and nearly a year after the Radiation treatment ended I am still bothered by the fatigue.
Don't regret it for a minute as I am now in Remission.

Thanks for the info Steve: I haven't had any word of an appointment with the Oncologist yet. However, do have an appointment with the surgeon in about 10 days. Interesting to year your story. Not to keen on the surgery as due to the side effects.
cheers
