So where to start, I’m a 58 year old man, no underlying health issues apart from being overweight for my height, Stage 3, Gleason of 7(4+3) PSA 34, NO/MO….suspicion was first aroused by two sessions of unexplained nocturnal bed wetting about 5 weeks apart, prior to that I had no issues, no hourly visits to the loo, no ed etc, as I had an appointment with my GP for my 3 yearly taxi medical I mentioned it to him at that visit, so as well as the usual blood and urine test he requested checks for PSA levels, he also performed a physical exam and considered my prostrate to be enlarged.
Hospital appointments came and went for various scans, blood and urine tests, then a visit to my local urology department for a biopsy procedure all in 12 cores were taken 6 each side and all 12 were positive this news was given to me a couple of weeks later, recently had a PETs CT scan and there’s been no transfer elsewhere, I’m currently awaiting a surgical date for a Radical Prostratectomy which I’ve been told would be within 10 weeks, this is followed up by 20 RT sessions and HT.
It’s all been a bit scary to be honest as it’s obviously new territory as it is for all of us, the thing that worries me most is the possible incontinence as I honestly think that would see me out of work as a taxi driver for a good while and I guess inevitably see us on the benefit system but I’ll have to wait and see.

Hi Keith,
I'm in the UK, I'm 74 years of age and a bit behind you in "the journey".
I've had a CT scan with results showing they suspect there is something there (C) in my prostate. My PSA was 39 by the way.
No sign of Lymth Node problems so far and also no suggestion that there is a bone problem although I have a "Nuclear" bone scan booked for next week which will give a definite answer on my bones. I haven't had an MRI scan and don't know if I'll be getting one.
I had 13 byopsies taken last weekend and have a phone "Results" appointment in November hopefully to provide me with the full picture and particularly my Gleason values, which is a critical thing.
Yes it is scary and it's on your mind 24/7, I'm very anxious about what will be my prognosis, the worst thing is all the waiting, the NHS is in a bit of a mess at the moment and I think it will be for quite some time yet!
There are so many of us all waiting anxiously, try and distract yourself with any hobbies/interests, this is what I am trying to do to at least be thinking of something else for a time.
All the best with your future treatment Keith.
