Hi. My husband was diagnosed in April with aggressive prostrate cancer. Came as a shock as others no pain but blood test came back raised. He has had hormone treatment which is really knocking him about, hot flushes very fatigued not the same person. He then started chemo but reacted badly after just 2 minutes, they tried again but slowly same reaction had to stop it. Three days later he was admitted with sepsis, on intravenous antibiotic drip for 4 days, 3 weeks later they tried again very slowly but reacted again so had to stop it all together. They are trying another chemo drug 31st Aug. I am scared as this is his last chance with chemo. The only thing they can do if chemo doesn't work is radiotherapy 3 weeks on every day 1 week off for 4 months they said it will be uncomfortable so much radiotherapy, so we are hoping chemo works first then only short dose of radiotherapy. He has been given hrt to help the terrible side affects of hormone treatment, hormone injections every 3 months but after 1 dose he was very ill so had to stop them. I am trying to be strong for him as his brother has kidney cancer and his sister has had oesophagus cancer. So trying to keep strong plus I look after my 90 Yr old mum who has ill health who bless her tries so hard to be strong for us herself. Sorry to moan but I am struggling I am sure there are others in worst situation but thanks for letting me get off my chest.
Hi Yvon,
welcome to the group but I’m sorry not in better circumstances. Click my profile to read my story.,this group has helped us both get through this and I’m sure it will you too.
There lots of treatments even at stage 4 so don’t think too far ahead.
sending you much love,
Louli xx
Hi Yvon
Things are really tough there, have they offered enzalutamide or arberaterone? I know all to well about hot flushes, in my head I would like to think that’s the hormone treatment working. I also know about sepsis I got it on my third session of chemotherapy, four or five days in hospital later I was out.
There are different chemotherapy treatments I remember after sepsis they wanted to stop I insisted they carry on, they gave a reduced portion just wondering if they could do the same ?
Stay safe
Joe
