Thanks for letting me be part of this group! I've been working as a psychologist supporting cancer patients for decades and now it's me who has metastasized prostate cancer... With hormone therapy and radiotherapy my PSA decreased from over 100 to 0.08 now and the bone metastases are not detectable with PET scan any more. So I have quite a satisfactory quality of life at the moment and would be interested in helpful group discussions here. Have a pleasant weekend everyone!
Hi Lillis,
Welcome to the best Online forum, the people here are great.
You should be able to help a lot of people here looking for advice. I know it's different, now that you are the one with Cancer.
Last year when I was diagnosed, my head was all over the place, fear of the unknown got me all of the time.
Now, 6 months into Remission (and after about 4 months of counselling after my Radiation treatment) I have a totally different outlook on life. I'm stronger mentally, can face anything (well you know).
Best of luck, looking forward to some interesting discussions.

Hi Lillis I'm sorry to see you have had to joine the group, but a warm welcome anyway, my medical problems leading up to being referred lead my to thing I might have cancer, but I was totally unprepared for the full diagnosis, I thought I was the only one to be emotionally effected but the diagnosis till I joined the group's on here, and realized everyone had the same reactions.

Hi lillis
Welcome to the place no one wants to be in, but the best place for information and hep where we can.
I presume your cancer is high grade, as incurable but like many of us ( including me ) treatable. Being a psychologist may help many people on here, although PC you may not have encountered many times, but that’s just a guess. Even so it’s good to have you here and we’re all glad your reading have dropped to what you have stated.
stay safe
Joe
Thank you Steve for the warm welcome! My experiences were similar to yours when I was diagnosed 2 years ago and it took me quite a while to adjust to the new situation. But step by step I learned to lead an even more meaningful life than I did before being diagnosed. I reduced my working hours which enabled me to spend more time with family and friends and I'm very active in my church community.
Very best wishes,
Lillis
Thank you Ulls! With welcome messages like yours I already feel very comfortable in this group! And thanks for the tip with the profiles. I hadn't known that and I'm very impressed by your reassuring story. I still have to create my own profile.
All the best
Lillis
Hi Joe,
thank you for your kind message. It feels good to be part of this group and while I hope to get support here of course I will also try to be helpful for others. And I'm very impressed by your profile and your unceasing passion for writing stories.
Take care
Lillis
Lillis,
My partner got me to start a 'Thought Diary'. I have continued with this from the day I was diagnosed up to now.
The good thing now is I read back from the corresponding day last year, every morning. You can tell from reading it, what state I was in.
Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry. I'm about 3/4 through my 6th diary.
At first I thought "What would I write". Now I can't stop writing, nothing is barred.
