I am 58 and was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in October 2021 with a PSA of 1998. I had a biopsy of my lymph node in armpit which showed the prostate cancer, so no Gleason score. Scans showed cancer in my bones scattered from head to femurs and a couple small spots in one lung. In November I started Lupron injections which I’m still taking along with Zometa and had 6 cycles of Docetaxel. My PSA has been dropping and is currently 1.4. Looking for someone that has maybe been down a similar path to help with some questions. 1. I am currently just having checkups and waiting for a change. Is this normal.
2. I have around 10-12 hot flashes a day. Is there something I can do to help reduce these.
3. I’m having trouble with my current pain medications (opiate’s), just don’t like they way they make me feel. Has anyone had luck with a different type of pain relief.
4. It’s been several months since I finished chemo but I have recently started having tingling, numbness and pain in my feet and legs making hard to walk at times, has anyone had this start months after chemo. Currently leaning towards the cancer in my spine causing it. Enough said for now and want to say thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and or answer my post.

Hi
Ask the nurses or your doctor about Provera it helps with the hot flushes, I presume you’ve already mentioned about the tingling and numbness, if not you need to asap. Could be nothing but worth getting it checked out.
There’s lots of pain killers it’s just what your able to take, some can be very strong, the nurses/doctors always say take eight a day at individual times, it builds up pain relief in your body.
lastly have you ever thought of acupuncture? There are many that swear by it, I did it for a while but had to stop due to covid.
Stay safe
Joe
Suggest phoning your cancer unit about the tingling/numbness. My OH had similar (particularly across the buttocks) which turned out to be a spinal cord compression caused by pressure on the spine - they gave him a blast of radiotherapy to the tumour which has improved matters but you can’t hang around if so - they need to act quickly. Good luck with it all!
