Hi,
New to the group.
First indication of a suspect psa score was 3 years ago. Now two mri and two biopsies later I am about to decide to see the consultant with a decision on treatment. The options I have been given are surgery or radiotherapy. Based on discussions that radiotherapy hinders later surgery, if required I'm opting for surgery (robotic).
Emotionally not in a good space while thinking about the after effects and what that will do on my confidence.
Afternoon Edward,
Welcome to the forum, it's been a year since I was diagnosed (Gleason 7 (3+4) T2 Intermediate risk).
I opted for the Hormones and Radiotherapy, don't regret that decision at all.
The more people you talk to who are going through Prostate Cancer the better you will be in yourself. That was my experience anyway.
The first 3 months were the hardest ever, just coming to terms with the Cancer.
After a full month of VMAT Radiation last October I had counselling once a week until April. Now I am in a much better place mentally. My counselling was through a charity based in Newcastle called 'Coping with Cancer'. I can't recommend them enough.
I'm in Remission now, that was nearly as hard to take as the Cancer diagnosis.
Don't worry about possible side effects, just deal with them as and when.
Best of luck
Steve (SteveCam)
