Hi,
Recently diagnosed, March 16th. Age 51, psa 5.2, then 4.4 few weeks later, Gleason 3+3, biopsy 18 cores taken, 12 had cancer.
Family history, 12 years ago dad had open surgery prostate removal at age 60 but cancer had spread, he's had radiotherapy and currently on hormones. Younger brother aged 50 also recently diagnosed with same Gleason as me.
I'm deemed low risk and NHS advising active surveillance, have private health cover so plan to go private for second opinion and focal therapy discussion although cancer is both sides so I think might reduce likelihood of hifu.
Prostatectomy and LDR Branchytherapy look like the options on NHS for me.
Hi 123
Your stats are low, you're a good candidate for AS providing the tumours are not too large or near the capsule edge.
Second opinion privately is a good option but be careful of being pushed into treatment that's not yet necessary.
All depends on how u feel going on AS rather than starting treatment.
Just for info , I went on AS for 4 years in 2013, had RT in 2017.
Best wishes
Steve
