Only discovered September biopsy diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer (hip, sturnum, lower lymphnods. October Collapsed with, Extensive Binary pulmonary embolisms, collapesed right lung, DVT and another clots in left leg, fluid on lung and phenomia. Lucky brilliant hospital saved him!!!. They carnt do cheoptharpy they said he should have had because of clots/ tried twice only had 2 days worth of Apalutamide drugs, stopped because they raised his blood pressure to dangerous level. His all ready on 3 different types of blood pressure pills(Ramipril, Doxazosin, and Amlodipine). Wasssss so fit before all this and no warning symptoms. So now they have said STAMPEDE radiotherapy. I wanted to know,  please here from anyone who has had that radiotherapy? As they said yukkk side effects. Wanted to know if people had experienced the side effects and if they went or r stuck with them. (they were saying double incontinence and pain ect. Thanku would be so greatfull for anyone in this kind of position would let me know thanku x

  • Hi Mrs need's help, your husband's problems make mine almost insignificant, I have incurable prostate cancer, Gleason 9, T4, Nx, M1b, spread several soft tissues in my stomach including lymph nodes and extensively to my bones, Plus I am a lot older. With none of the other complications your husband has.

As to your question, yes I've had radiotherapy, the way it works is, first you go and have 3 seeds implanted one in each hip and one in the stomach, you given tubes of laxative as they require the lower bowels to be empty, you are asked to drink 250mls of water to fill the blader.

The seeds allow them to set you up for radiotherapy, the laxative and water, prior to every visit, this allows them to aim at the required area of the prostate,

There are possible side effects, double incontinence is one, but to be honest I had none of them, but I did purchase double incontinence pants, and wore them traveling to and from the hospital, better safe than sorry.

They are normally on time, and so long as you have prepared it takes around 30 minutes, the machine is ok it's open and the room is cool.

Please keep asking questions, all the best Ulls
