I said hello to this group earlier others year when my psa level came back as29 and I was referred to urology who arranged a bone scan
This came through very quickly and a couple of weeks later I met the urology onsultant who informed me that there were no problems with bone mets but I had a lump on my kidney, unconnected with my prostate, that needed sorting.
I then had a ct scan which confirmed the kidney mass and surgery was carried out to remove my right kidney. I consider myself very lucky as without my presenting with prostate symptoms the cancer would not have been picked up.
I had an mri scan the week before kidney surgery to check out my prostate. We discussed this on the day of the surgery. It turns out that my prostate is 3 times larger than normal (90 ml?) and there is a 10mm lesion on the right side.
Now that I am recovering well from the kidney op the urology people are ready to tackle the prostrate. I am booked for a biopsy at the beginning of April and it seems that, considering my age, the most likely option will be removal of the prostate. The 3 whole body scans I have had show no other problems so with the prostate gone I should live until I am about 150.
Sorry if this is overlong but it is the first time I have talked to anyone in any detail about my experience so far. Regards to everyone here.
