My husband has recently been diagnosed stage 4 with bone and lung mets. I’m loving the positivity here and hoping for maybe a good few years ahead of us being in the bone mets category. He has responded really well to HT his PSA now 2.2 from 44.4 after only 6 weeks.
however I’m concerned that it has spread to his lung ands so far I haven’t found anyone talking about having bone abd lung mets and how they are doing. Anyone here in that category?
first oncology appointment on 26th November so we might know more detail then. I will keep you posted. Hubby is still working with few symptoms although breathless a bit at times. Very little pain but does have fatigue. He is 71 and otherwise fit with a great attitude to life.
Thanks to all for your contributions. I am so thankful to have this site.
Hi Louli
Welcome !
I can't comment on the lung metastases, however, will say that HT does cause tiredness and lack of stamina, so this is nothing to worry about.
Hopefully there will be others who can help further.
Regards
Stuart
Thank you Stuart for responding so quickly. I’m so worried every time he so much as sneezes. I think I know the outlook is bleak with distant mets but I’m still hopeful of some time. He is my darling boy and this is unbearable.
Hi Louli
I feel for you.
Others have said before, it's harder for partners and loved ones than ( maybe) it is for us who have PC.
Has the MDT reported on their treatment recommendations yet? Let us know as there are others on here that are much more knowledgeable than I am and can help more.
Regards
Stuart
Lung mets are not rare, but they aren't common in prostate cancer. I think it's important to remember that they behave like prostate cancer, not lung cancer, and so if the HT is doing its job, then they should be held for now. Also, of course, like prostate cancer in general, they advance fairly slowly anyway.
I’m so worried every time he so much as sneezes.
We're all looking over our shoulders, but don't let it get on top of you!
Good Luck to you both

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.
Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
Thank you Stuart….yes we have the oncology appointment on the 26th and should know more then. It’s early days for me mentally and I’m up and down a bit coming to terms with it. We are so close and helping each other… thanks
Hi there… yes when you put it like that it’s the prostate cancer that is responding well to the HT. that is reassuring.. I will be happy for him to think of it in that way too!
yes it’s a process/experience for us but keeping on top of it instead of it getting on top of us at this stage is a priority.
much kindness to you
Hi Louli,
Sorry you both find yourself in this position. I too have lung metastases along with spread elsewhere. Please read my profile to give you an idea where I`m coming from. My treatment plan has gone better than I hoped. I`m not saying it has been easy, it hasn't but as far as I`m concerned the side effects are part and parcel of my treatment which I accept and cope with. My PSA has been less than 0.1 since June 2020 so please keep positive. Hope your future appointment with Oncology brings you both a good treatment plan for your hubby.
Take care, Tom.
OMG! I’m so happy to hear from you Tom. Your experience and diagnosis is practically identical to ours. Hubby takes Prostap3 now and has been posted out a booklet on Zytiga so I presume this might be part of the treatment plan. Read your profile .. we are also on the West coast and our Oncologist is also from The Beatson. We don’t know the full detail of the scans because we were told the news over the phone but kind of dreading getting the detail. Just to hear from you in such a positive way has been so reassuring at a time when we need hope. To be honest the way we were told was brutal. So all the best with your continuing treatment success Tom . I will keep you and everyone updated.
thanks again Tom
PS also a Springsteen fan!!
Thanks for the kind words Louli. I have been to a few Springsteen concerts over the years (and others) and I just can`t see by him for sheer entertainment and a 3 hour show of course!! Sorry if there are different opinions out there.....................of course there are, LOL.
Take care, Tom.
