Hi there,
So I’m age 48, recently diagnosed with advanced PC. Gleason 4+5, PSA 43, T4N1M1. No organ or bone mets, but has travelled to non-local lymph nodes.
Was given an initial 30 day course of androcur, and I am on injections of decapeptyl for life. There is talk of blasting this thing with both radiotherapy and chemo, although waiting to hear from oncologist to get details.
From what I hear, the hormone therapy may last a few months, or could be a few years, or if really lucky, beyond.
I am conscious from the stats I’ve seen that it’s only a 49% chance of getting to the 5 year mark though. :/. I think it’s the uncertainty that’s the most difficult thing to deal with initially.
Hi
Right your talking with a person same stats except my PSA was 893, over five years later I’am still here and plan to be for a while yet. New medication is coming through all the time, remember PC is very slow growing time is on your side. But if chemo is offered I would take it, I did and radiotherapy and I’am on the hormone prostap for life, noe on enzalutamide, but every time I go to see the oncologist I always want to know what’s plan B if this fails.
stay safe
Joe
