Hi Moderan and welcome to the forum where nobody wants to be!
I assume you have had a PSA test to be starting on the PCa diagnosis. The usual path will be an MRI scan followed by a biopsy. There are different biopsy techniques, mine was an Artemis TRUS biopsy (guided by the results of the MRI), but you could have a trans-perineal biopsy instead. Once the biopsy results are in your Oncology team will meet and decide on what further diagnosis is needed. I had a multi-parameter MRI followed very quickly by a bone scan. Once those results are in a multi-disciplinary team will meet to decide on treatment recommendations. They might offer several different treatments and you will have to decide which is best for you.
I was offered either surgery or hormone therapy with radiotherapy and I chose the latter.
In the meantime I suggest you download the Prostate Cancer Toolkit from the PCUK website. Link here: https://prostatecanceruk.org/media/2499098/how_prostate_cancer_is_diagnosed-ifm.pdf
You can get it posted to you but that takes a bit longer.
Good luck with your diagnosis and treatment and keep in touch with us on here.
Hi Moderan
As Seamus says welcome to the forum, I am also new to the club but have started my treatment.
The guys on here are great and will offer advice and are willing to help, it is daunting at first and will either hit you like a ton of bricks or will take longer to accept, My advice to you is ask loads of questions write them down before you go to any appointment, my medical team have been great and they always send me a copy of the notes about each visit. which will help you understand what is going on and also you will need this information for benefit claims etc if you need to do it later.
I wish you all the best and hope things go well
Stay safe
Regards Chris
