Hi,
I don't personally suffer but my dad has had a recent diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer. Possibly in the bladder, bones and lymphatic system too.
I'm joining the group to find out more information. I can hold it together in front of dad and the family but it's so difficult to comprehend alone. He's such a strong, amazing man.
Hi
Do you know anymore details - Gleason for example? Sounds like he may not have gone through the full range of tests as you say that the PC 'may be in the bladder' etc.
Please let us know where he is on the journey and I'm sure one of us can help you understand.
Regards
Stuart

If I can't beat this, I'm going for the draw.
Meanwhile, my priority is to live while I have the option.
Hi,
Like you, my dad has also recently found out he has advanced prostate cancer, plus a bone scan shows it has spread. This is an excellent community, lots of information to browse through and people to share with. The thing that shocks me (apart from finding out the cancer diagnosis) is how many new posts there are every day. It truly is shocking how many go through this and makes me want to weep
Thank you.
I don't know a lot of the specifics because he won't tell me. He had some tablets and on Tuesday started injections, I'm guessing this is hormone therapy?
He is having a bone scan tomorrow where he is injected with something (I'm guessing a dye) then he goes back to the hospital a few hours later for the actual scan.
He also has a procedure booked next week which I think is to investigate the bladder. Overnight surgery. I'm aware googling can throw up so much information and finding the relevant stuff is hard. Thank you so much for replying, it's very generous and very appreciated
Yes, I think my dad is not telling me everything but I have read the letters from the hospital so I can grasp what is going on. You're not alone Redgale, thinking of you. You can do this.
Hi Redgale. The injection prior to the bone scan is actually a radioactive tracer which will highlight any metastes in the bones. I was advised to sit down to pee for the next 24 hours as you don't want it to splash around the toilet. Also probably a good idea not to have the grandchildren sitting on his knee for a couple of days.
