I feel I am about to ramble (and here is my safe place to ramble). I have just read "After the treatment finishes, then what?" as signposted by @Millibob in response to a post by Ollis.
I recall 15 months ago when my Urologist stated that I had lost control of my life and that I would have little control for the next year or two. On reflection, I not only lost control, I lost my direction. Almost a year after my initial diagnosis, I admitted my situation and visited Maggie's attached to The Freeman Cancer Unit and sought assistance. After two sessions I had my head back on and was facing forward. Many of the points discussed at Maggie's were outlined in the "After the treatment...." document.
My greatest crutch throughout my journey has been my wife, directing, supporting and assuring me that "we" shall get through this. That was until 3 months ago when she had a stroke and was/is extremely ill. (Although her recovery has been nothing short of miraculous) My wife's illness meant that I had to step up to the mark and find the direction that I was lacking, and find some form of control. Whilst all of the time, many of the issues outlined in "After the treatment...." remained.
Millibob suggested to take 15 minutes to read the document, if I can second that motion. At times I question my concerns whilst every one around me appears to manage theirs. This read has just settled me down to realise that I am not mad or melodramatic (well perhaps a little)
