Hi I know there is a travel forum but im hoping you guys can help as struggling to get insurance cover and hoping it could be because im filling things in wrong.
My OH has been placed on a treatable pathway and the oncologist is happy that we go on our planned trip (but we need insurance obviously) at the moment we can cancel without loosing money but really don't want to.
Prostectomy Oct 2023
PSA rises early this year scans including PSMA pet scan completed and MRI identified 14mm tumor on hip socket PSA 5.5. Lymph nodes and prostate bed clear
SABR 3 sessions completed (no more planned) 5th June, 6 months of ADT .. Bicalutamide started on 2nd June hormone injections commence 23rd June.
Questions...
When we fill in the quote as its only a treatable pathway do we answer yes to terminal ?
Because he has started on the Bicalutamide would you say he has already started hormone treatment already ?
Any advice greatfully received..
Hi CAZ23,
My thinking is that as it's treatable & you haven't been told it's terminal then you would answer ''No'' to that question, & YES to the one about having started HT treatment already (Bicalutamide is a HT).
If you want to be 100% sure you are answering correctly (we all hear horror stories about insurance companies trying to wriggle out of things ) then give them a call whilst you are on line filling it in.
Best Wishes
Brian
Hello CAZ23,
Most travel insurers ask a simple (and quite brutal) question - is it terminal? The vast majority use the same question set and it's difficult to know what to say in the case of incurable but treatable PC - the position I'm also in .
If you're looking at one of these I'd do as Buzzers suggested - speak to them for clarification of how to answer so there's no possibility of a problem if you need to make a claim.
I'd suggest you try Albert & Eddie, it's a search engine owned by the same group that owns Insurancewith and Holidaysafe as well as others and they use a different question set which doesn't use the terminal word. I'm insured with Holidaysafe for annual worldwide and the terms were reasonable.
Out of interest the "outlook" questions and my answers were:
"Have you reached a point where the doctor says you cannot be cured, so treatment is intended to extend and/or improve the quality of your life ? a) Yes
What is your current short term outlook ? a) I am expected to live longer than six months" (the possible answers to this were as mine or not expected to live 6 months or I don't know.).
I hope you can get sorted, do let us know how you get on.
Derek.

That's a shame, maybe 'phone them to find out why?
I don't know when you're holiday starts but the only only reason I can think of is that if the SABR only ended recently and they might not be able to give cover for some time after the last treatment?
Just a theory - My RT was years ago so I didn't encounter that issue.

Well totally confused now...
Tried again Albert and Eddie and managed to recreate the quote i had a month ago.
We have booked the policy and will go through it with a fine tooth comb over the next few days as there is a 14 day cancellation option..
Thank you for the feedback and help... think it proves you just need to keep trying and don't give up.
