Just a small question. BW’s lower legs are swollen. GP says - Bipedal pitting edema. He’s had an ECG and heart is normal. I know there’s several reasons he could have this - high salt/ lymph node draining problems, damage from pelvic RT, HT .to other problems. He’s recently come off steroids and Abiraterone and since then he’s had a few small set backs. We are on holiday atm as GP said go and have a good time and we will do blood tests when you are back. ( so he can’t be that worried) I’ve just watched BW walk away with swollen ankles and walking like a man of 90 when he’s 59. I’m toying with testing out the holiday insurance if his ankles get any bigger!
Finally my question - anyone else had this problem with it being linked to HT or full pelvic RT or PC/ lymph node drainage - Or stopping steroids.
His only medication at this point is Zoladex.
Any chat about it is fine. We are casually implementing legs up higher than heart . Low salt as possible, leg massage and yoga. Not making a lot of difference. Any tips ?

Too late on the overdosing . He’s had one for breakfast and is now walking about with one in each hand like he’s in a Western. Better get him to ease off. Also true to form, he’s snuck off and found a room with a Red Cross on the door. Come back all upbeat as had a chat with the Dr about an earache - where are the insurance forms and should he phone?. I never should have told him about KJ911 and the earache in Dubai. Last seen heading off for the OK Corral with the words of love, “tell him about your legs!!” Ringing in his ears.

Hi BW , I’ve been following this convo with interest because I always get swollen ankles and feet on holiday but not at any other time! I thought it was to do with flying but last year we did a cruise from the uk and the same thing happened! I will eat bananas and reduce salt ( not that I have much salt anyway) I’ve also ordered compression socks!
Well, flight tomorrow and BW’s swollen legs are as tight as a drum - absolutely normal. As far as I’m concerned bananas, nuts and pumpkin seeds are the way to go. Also he’s very happy because he’s had both ears syringed for £200! And looking forward to his insurance claim.
Still seems to be unable to fully hear me speaking though
Aahhh! Thats good! Re not hearing you properly - I have a theory about this ……’selective hearing’!,,, my husband’s hearing is really poor and he now wears hearing aids. This , though, plays to both our advantage! He often doesn’t seem to hear when I alert him to household chores or repairs! I suffer from insomnia and he can’t hear when I put the radio on at stupid o clock in the middle of the night
my compression socks have arrived and I’m now well into ‘thinking’ about sparkly clothes and t shirts and swimming costumes for our holiday!
have a good journey home and soften the blows of returning to reality by looking for your next holiday!
Hi L (BW ), hope the flight goes well tomorrow. I think the banana and nut theory is really interesting. If it works, that’s great. I also suffer from selective hearing (although I actually think it is selective listening!)
Best wishes, David
