Have a few problems after my with going to the toilet the need to wee has increased and I need to catheterised almost every day and it's making me phoo as well but as I have skin tags on my back passage which is becoming a problem but not getting any help from my GP ect

  • Hello

Thank you for your update although I am so sorry to read of the issues you have post radiotherapy.

If you are not having any joy with your issues with your GP I suggest you contact your oncology team at the hospital where you had your radiotherapy about the issues. If you have a catheter then you will also be under either a Macmillan or District nurse - have you had a word with them? If the problem is not getting any better then a call to 111 may well be an option.

I do hope this helps - please let me know how you get on.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  , sorry to hear you are having problems post RT.  Hopefully they will clear as your bits settle down.  Have you been catheterising since the RT, if so which consultant were you under.  Maybe a chat with their team might help? David

  • The doctor has asked urologist for an appointment but it's not happening, it 9 weeks, plus because I am catheter Ising it makes me go a lot more often plus it makes me go to the phoo which makes my back side sore and the it bleeds up bit

  • It been 16 weeks since by last treatment waiting for urologists appointment but that's been 9 weeks catheterishg makes you need to go move often plus the back side is pain full due to the desperate need to wee

  •   , think it is time to talk to your nurse who is supervising your catheterisation.  If you don’t know who that is, then a call to 111. David

  • Hello Michael (

I agree with the post from  above and I think you need to be gently persuasive. You can also follow up your lack of appointment with your hospital PALS (Patient Advisory and Liaison Service). You can find their contact details on your hospital web page.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes - Brian.
