Is there anyone else experience excruciating pain in the hip moving down the leg to the knee tried Zormorph and oromorph but no effect now on pregabalin and celecoxib . I have advanced prostate cancer that’s spread to bones spine , pelvis , ribs  but as yet not to lymph nodes,. Just wondering any advice on pain relief

  • Hi  .

I really sympathise as I have to look on and see my husband with the same pain in the hip radiating down to the knee which brings him to tears at times. He takes an opioid called Zaldiar which is a combination of Tramadol and Paracetamol which does give him some relief. He doesn't have bone mets so we are trying to get to the cause of it at the moment. In the meantime he has regular sessions with an osteopath plus she has taught me how to use a massage gun to relax the muscles so I do this for him 3 times a week and it gives him almost immediate relief.

I hope that others might come on with their suggestions.

  • I think I might have to invest in a massage gun thanks for the advice

  • The other thing his osteopath has given him is a range of exercises to strengthen the muscles and take the pressure off the hip. He has just had his message session - the things I do for love looking at his bum for half an hour. He came back to bed an hour ago almost screaming with pain and is now walking around in a much better state.

Why not see if you can be referred to an osteopath as they treat you holistically. Part of my husband's problem was that he wasn't walking straight and she is trying to correct this by manipulation and exercise.

  • Thank you for that I will do some investigation and ask if this is an option available to me
