Hi has anyone had any experience with getting travel insurance while receiving treatment for cancer(prostate). Thank you

  • Yup! More expensive than cost of holiday itself:( told once radiotherapy completed cover would be more reasonable - so - uk bound for now!

  • Yup! There's a specific forum "Travel Insurance For Cancer Patients" on here but don't hold your breath. Me and Mrs Millibob have paid over £1K for an annual worldwide policy. Mrs Millibob has issues (health) as well as being married to Me.

    Good luck on your quest.

  • Went with Allclear. £2000 for annual multitrip including cruise cover. 45 days maximum per trip. Expensive but worth it. A lot of companies spout that they cover all stages of cancer, but in my experience, they don’t   I have stage 4 incurable prostate cancer

  • Just something else - don't bother filling all the forms out online - once you do this and press "get a quote" 99 times out of 100 it will say - because of your medical issues give us a call to check if we can cover you. It's just easier ring them in the first place.

  • Well done for going away on holiday with your diagnosis - I admire you. Best wishes.

  • Thank you. It sounds as though you are in the same position as my husband, his prostate cancer has spread to his bones. Nice to know there is cover out there. Do you usually obtain your insurance before you book your holiday?

  • we’ve had annual travel cover for many years now but it would not cover prostate cancer until radiotherapy over and done with. Tried to get cover from a more specialist insurance company to cover the cancer £2800 for two of us for 2 weeks holiday in Canaries. Said , ‘thanks but no thanks’.
