This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic. It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.
It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.
I could have named it 'Waffle'. Then I couldn't go off topic.
Hi Steve,
Dealing with problem neighbours is a real problem unless you happen to be a 6ft 4ins Royal Marine with anger management issues.
These are some practical things you can do, though, and they are listed here:
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/housing/problems-with-neighbours/complaining-about-your-neighbour/
Since it involves keep records accurately, and you are already journalling, you might have a headstart on this.
I hope the information helps in some way.
Steve
Changed, but not diminished.
OMG that must have been a terrifying experience. x
Alwayshope hope your OH's injection goes well today. It is easier on the tablets.
In Polis, Cyprus now, was up to 33°C yesterday. Think today will probably be mid 20's. Not too hot!
The police must be the same everywhere, useless!!! We are going to have to move, but selling up, who will buy somewhere with problem neighbours??
We did, unknowingly!
Take Care, both of you.
Steve (SteveCam)
There is a cold snap on the way for our part of the Med this week Steve Stevecam but it is all relative as our cold snap is predicted to get down to 15C during the day. A bit cold for swimming round the baths of Aphrodite in Cyprus unless you are a burly 6 foot 4 Royal Marine with anger management issues Steve mstev2 . Being married to an ex special forces chap with those issues won't get him in the sea at the moment and nor did it make any difference to the nasty neighbours. Their behaviour meant that I had to go to court in order to ensure that they didn't keep blocking our right of way amongst other things. Until it was resolved we couldn't move and it took 5 years. They ended up having to pay all our legal costs (25K) and were informed in no uncertain terms by the judge that had we asked for compensation then he would have been minded to grant it. The problem is that you have to declare any issues with neighbours when you come to sell up which might put some people off, especially in your situation where you just have nasty neighbours. Keeping a log of everything, along with photographic and video evidence, did help prove our case. I initially got a solicitor to formalise the problems, based on the evidence I had, and ask politely that they modified their behaviour otherwise the matter would be taken to court. The rest was history.
Enjoy your holiday.
Hello Steve Stevecam
Sad to say I am about to enjoy the cold snap that Alwayshope is talking about as I am in Turkey at present. Wednesday night is 1c .
You know where I am Steve and you have my number - I am back on 30 March 2025 if you want a chat or even a meet you are more than welcome
We are home for a couple of weeks - if you want to get away to the bright lights of Manchester - we have spare bedrooms - just saying.
We are here for you - try not to let them get to you.
Kind Regards - Brian.

Strength, Courage, Faith, Hope, Defiance, VICTORY.
I am a Macmillan volunteer.
You are a very patient woman Alwayshope .
However, you have paid out exactly the right pathway.
Unless there is evidence of a criminal offence the police have no power.
It then becomes a civil matter and that takes a really long time.
There is one thing that can be done to garner support. Look at your local authority's web site and search for anti-social behaviour.
You should find out what they will be able to do about your problem. It is best to get a good package of evidence first.
The wheels grind exceedingly slow, but in my area at least they do grind.
Good luck.
Steve
Changed, but not diminished.
I don't think it would normally take this long but we had a particularly stubborn neighbour who wouldn't appoint a solicitor despite being told by three different judges that he must do so. When he did eventually comply he chose a solicitor in the same mould who had a poor reputation. It ended up going to the high court in front of a purple judge who insisted on a site visit and in the end he threatened to send the neighbour 'down the steps' if they didn't pay up within 14 days. It definitely needed patience and determination. Getting the right advice from the beginning is important and many solicitors offer a free initial evaluation (or they used to) to see if you have a viable case.
Went to the Baths of Aphrodite today, the temperature did drop to about 20°C, we even had a couple of spots of rain.
We know we will have to declare what's going on & probably lose a lot of money selling up, but it's our quality of life that's being affected.
Thanks for the reply.
Steve (SteveCam)
Brian Millibob I thought that 33° was a bit hot the other day.
As long as it doesn't rain (too much), I don't really care. I am in Moussaka land for another 10 days.
Hope everything is going well in Turkey, apart from the 1°
Did I ever say, Newcastle won the League Cup last night?? Ended up watching it on YouTube on a 'beinsports' channel. Woo-Hoo!!!
And Rangers beat Celtic (that's for johnam and her OH).
Steve (SteveCam)
Brian Millibob Thanks for the offer. To have friends like you all is especially heartwarming!!
I probably will give you a ring when you get home.
I have 2 dentist's appointments when I get home. It's a very long time since I was able to say that!
