This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic.  It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.

It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.

I could have named it 'Waffle'.  Then I couldn't go off topic.

  • It’s when you dodge something.  A common phrase in the military.  AW

  • Good Morning

Yes, Holidays booked so far Turkey 11-30 March, Wales with ALL the family (13 + 6 dogs) 11-18 April. Sarah's due to give birth the end of April so then nothing booked until late August with a week in Scotland including the military tattoo.

I need a break - at the moment work is madness with Self Assessment Tax Returns being due by 31 January 2025 to avoid the £ 100 late filing penalty. I have done a couple of 14 hour days this week and I am semi-retired!! Rofl

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Sadly, ever since the start of the welfare state, no administration has taken the decision to fund the promises.  Businesses were asked to do so, but not until Maxwell did this really get taken seriously.  Even now, pensions for Civil servants and health service workers are not funded but rely on the next generation paying.  We are continuing with final salary schemes today which will have a massive impact on our kids and grandkids.

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • I see you are a busy man!!!

I'll let you get on with your Self Assessment.

  • Hi WW. I actually live on the mainland of Greece on the Peloponnese. We chose it because of ease of access to Athens for health services and in hindsight it was a good decision.

I do keep up with the UK news so am aware of the promises made before election and being reneged on now. I understand there is to be a debate but not in the House of Commons.

My husband has the old pension and as you say the gap is getting wider. Also there was a mix up on his NI record with someone of the same name and date of birth which was impossible to untangle plus years went missing from his time in the services so all in all he lost many years of contributions.

  • Oh  ,

I’ve a strong feeling you and I share around the same time birthday as I was 12 days before my 66th birthday & enjoyed my 70th last September . I could go on my platform about the pension injustice  as I wrote to everyone and no 10 cat

. What many people didn’t know was if women retired before their said date they received a reduced pension . If men did the same the government paid their NI contributions until their retirement age. So lots of anomalies. I had 50 years full NI and still do not qualify for a full SP .

i feel my BP rising .
yes  , I would love to . In Scotland right now the government are backing the women but we are due an election so going down the same route as the in-house party at present.

totally understand regarding the injustices . I was lead to believe if you received the lower pension it was topped up as a protected payment. But only if you live in UK.

    best wishes

  • Spot on Liz  -the 18th. As a carer I made sure I got NI credits but that was why I fought to get the law changed for disabled people and their carers. Social Security Law is a minefield!!!!

  • Is that with cranberry sauce?

  • Buzzers, I think I have lost the plot.  What does the Cranberry sauce refer to?

    Sorry!

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • I lost the plot many years ago Steve - but in this case, my reply was in response to your reply to Millibob 2 days ago

Brian, you both will always have Turkey.
