I thought I would share my first year of being diagnosed with Advanced PC.

Well I can hoestly say it has not been easy, with being overwhelmed during the first month, not knowing where my life would lead, but after posting and reading what everyone on here says your advice has been a great help

I know I am not alone in this, the treatment has taken its toll on my body but my onoclogy team have been great and my suport nurse is there if I need her, my PSA is at 0.01 and has been for the last 6 months so with all the side effects of taking Enzalutamide and the daily pain is worth it.

I am now sleeping through the night and occasionaly wake for a pee but not as often as this time last year.

Most of all I want to thank all you guys on here for your support, it has ment a great deal to me

Thank you stay safe and in the words of spock live long and prosper

Chris

  • Hi Chris, my diagnosis day is 27 January, 1st year just past and I fully agree with everything you said.

It's great to hear you are doing so well, long may it last, all the best Ulls

  • Hello there!!

I can’t think of a better gift for Christmas Steve! Mr Louli is absolutely smashing it for now with Zytiga and Prostap keeping his PSA at 0.1. It was below that but a little nudge up last week.

Anyway, as you say anything below 2 is good and can keep us all happy for a long time to come I’m sure. Happy Days!!

    keep up the good work!!

  • Well done Chris, I'm the same diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in Feb 21, first injections 8th March then enzalutamide in April my psa has gone down from 305 to 0.007 which is undetectable. Yes I agree the treatment is harsh with bone pain and fatigue but managed to go to work part time and play 5 aside football. Asked the oncologist what's plan b and he said I'll be on this treatment for a good few years. Totally agree about the prostate forum to read everyone's questions and answers has been a great help to me. I know I won't be cured but with the many treatments out there I can live a little longer. All the best to every one and their treatment.

  • Hotflushlva,

I know you get used to the hot flushes.

Wow, your PSA levels, I thought mine was high at 12.9 when I was diagnosed.

The Hormones and Radiotherapy brought mine down to 0..9

Best of luck with your treatment.  Hope you are not on the Hormones as long as they say.

I was initially told up to 3 years but in February I was told that I didn't have to have any more Hormone Injections.  As long as my PSA levels can stay between 0 and 2 (see what happens when my Testosterone starts up again).

  • Hi Steve my diagnosis was grade 4 which had spread to groin and lymph nodes as well to some bones so told I would be on this treatment until my psa rises. I haven't had chemotherapy or radiotherapy yet, the oncologist said he's keeping these in his back pocket. Glad to see your in biochemical remission and that it lasts a long long time.

  • Thank you lovely lady! X
